The ability of Artemia to produce dormant eggs, known as cysts, has led
to extensive use of Artemia in aquaculture.

The cysts may be stored for long periods and hatched on demand to provide
a convenient form of live feed for larval fish, crabs, lobsters, crayfish,
shrimp, krill.

Hatching container
A conical-shaped tank works best for hatching. Clean tank after hatching.
Salintity
The recommended Salinity is 25 ppt - 35 ppt.
Ph
A Ph of 7.5 - 8.5 is optimal.
To increase ph level, sodium bicarbonate may be added

Temperature
Optimal hatching temperature is 30*C (86*F).
Illumination
Maintain strong illumination throughout hatching period.
Aeration
Maintain aeration to keep allysts in suspension throughout hatching
period.
Wash down any cysts that may stick to tank.
Density
Allow 1.5 - 2.5 grams of cysts per liter of solution.
Hatching Time
After 24 hours, Stop aeration, siphon napulii into a fine mesh net and
rinse before feeding.
