All my friends who keep fishes are more mature, not dumb, but
whenever facing problems, they always firstly calm down and resolve step by
step. Why are aquarist like this? I think because while they are taking care of
their fishes, they are “forced” to be more patient.
Taking care of fishes is not a one-go thing, you will need
to wait the water is steady, wait for the process of nitrifying bacteria, and
always keep your eyes on the eco-system in your tank, from zero to a small
pond, or perhaps, to decay. Among all the pets, keeping fishes requires
patience the most, comparing with dogs or cats, which can interactive, being an
aquarist are more likely to be an observer, a different feeling only aquarist
can understand. you will enjoy some spare time alone, observing the eco world
that you created yourself, and absorb yourself inside the solitude.
Fishes are so fragile, could get disease without any notice,
after failing again and again, aquarists will have to study more to avoid
making any small mistakes, so you can save more and more lives. During this
period, you will respect and become a thinker to meaning of life.
Many people, first come to aquarium, might only got
attracted by the beauty of fishes, they barely study each species. But when get
into it, you won’t stop studying more, for example if you are a fan of Arowana,
you will have to learn its habits, preference, temperature, food etc. You will
be so proud of keeping a healthy, colorful, active fish, then you can say you
are a expert.
So, after being an aquarist, what differences happen to you?
